Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a collection of themed sections at Universal Parks & Resort based on the Harry Potter media brand, incorporating elements from the Warner Bros. film series and the original novels by J. K. Rowling to create a unique experience for visitors. A Warner Bros. Entertainment exclusive license allowed Universal Creative to develop the sections, which were then built by Universal Creative.
In 2003, rumors circulated that a Harry Potter-themed attraction will be built at either a Disney or a Universal theme park. Warner Bros., on the other hand, had bought the rights to the Harry Potter series, and they categorically refuted any such reports. Disney and Universal have entered into bidding negotiations with Warner Bros. and Rowling for the rights to operate Harry Potter theme parks.
When Rowling signed a statement of intent with Disney in 2004, the business stated that it hoped to construct an area dedicated to Harry Potter within the Magic Kingdom park in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park in the future.
A rumor from a “very reputable source” circulated in January 2007 that the Lost Continent part of the Islands of Adventure park would be re-themed “to the stories and characters of one of the most successful children’s franchises.”
Other reports followed up in the following few days with unofficial confirmation that the new region would be associated with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was formally announced on May 31, 2007, that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter would be added to Islands of Adventure, a partnership between Universal and Warner Bros. Entertainment.
Both of the theme parks of the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida – Islands Of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida – are themed to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and both contain Wizarding World of Harry Potter characters and environments. Each park has a Hogwarts Express station, which allows visitors to travel between the two theme parks on a full-scale reproduction of the train that features in the film series.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter debuted on June 18, 2010, in the Islands of Adventure theme park in Universal Studios Florida. It consists of a recreation of Hogsmeade as well as three rides. One of the most popular attractions is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which takes place within the confines of a recreation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. On June 13, 2019, a new roller coaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which took the place of the Dragon Challenge, officially debuted.
Other attractions include the Flight of the Hippogriff, a family roller coaster, and the Hogwarts Express, which transports visitors to Hogwarts. The Ollivanders Wand Shop, the Triwizard Spirit Rally, and the Frog Choir are among the other attractions of the park. Several souvenir stores and restaurants from the Harry Potter book series can be found in Hogsmeade, including Dervish and Banges, Honeydukes, Ollivanders, the Three Broomsticks, and the Hog’s Head Inn.
