Take a Walk on the Wild Side at ZooTampa at Lowry Park

ZooTampa at Lowry Park is an independent charitable organization that provides an unforgettable zoo experience for close to one million visitors annually. Located in Tampa, Florida, this 56-acre zoological park is one of the most popular zoos in the Southeastern United States. It has been around since the 1930s and is dedicated to providing educational and conservation programs to promote animal welfare and protection, as well as a superior guest experience.

At ZooTampa, guests can explore naturalistic animal habitats like Asian Gardens & Marketplace, Safari Africa, Wallaroo Station Adventure Outpost, Free-Flight Aviary, Primate World, and more. These areas are home to a variety of exotic animals like lions and tigers, as well as over 1000 animals that include rare and endangered species like koalas, red pandas, and Komodo dragons.

Along with these exciting exhibits and interactive experiences, ZooTampa also offers a variety of educational programs. These include presentations on animal care and conservation topics such as invasive species awareness and coral reef restoration efforts. Additionally, they offer volunteer opportunities where guests can help care for the animals or participate in community conservation projects.

For those looking for something extra special, ZooTampa also offers a variety of seasonal events throughout the year, including:

  • Wild Adventures Nights Out, where families can enjoy hands-on animal encounters after dark,
  • Wildlife Connections which introduces guests to amazing wildlife,
  • Fundraising events for special causes
  • Fun Fridays featuring live music
  • After Hours events which give guests exclusive access to some areas after closing time
  • Animal Weeks features special interactive experiences with select species
  • Art in the Zoo features local artists and a variety of other unique activities perfect for every age group.

To support their mission even further, ZooTampa offers multiple ways to connect with them through adoption programs where you can sponsor an individual animal’s care or habitat improvements. You can also volunteer for opportunities that range from working behind the scenes caring for animals, or helping with special events to guiding tours or becoming an official Keeper’s Assistant for a day. Donation options also allow you to help fund important initiatives like education programs or conservation efforts. There are several gift shops with items perfect for aspiring zoologists or nature lovers alike where you can purchase items that directly benefit the park. Plus, sponsorships are available at different levels depending on your commitment level, from personal recognition banners inside the zoo or sponsoring specific habitats or projects.
